Anatomy of a Poster Design

by admin | August 20th, 2009

Welcome to our studio.

Here’s a “how to” for you on poster design based upon one approach we use. The art medium varies and is chosen to express the visual and emotional content of a particular image.

Generally, when designing, it’s best to work hard but not think about it too much at the same time. You can take advantage of happy accidents, then demure and say “Oh, yes, that’s exactly what I planned out before I began this design.” Somehow, even the most methodical, perhaps even rigid artists know that the secret of creativity is in the spirit of play — a curious combination of planning and happenstance. You could call it “relaxed intention or disciplined fancy,” a description my Dad saw in the best of jazz musicians.
